More Sundry Quotes & Reviews:

"One thing I liked most about this album is that the songs are all varied, demonstrating Chris's ability to pen different sorts of songs and the fact that he's not stuck in any one groove. Worthy of an extra mention is my other favourite track 'Raven on the Wire' which reminds me of something Show of Hands might have come up with. So there you have it, a nice album, any singer songwriter should be proud of."

"Makes me `laugh now, think later.’ And why can’t I get that tune out of my head? He’s a poet in a songwriter suit."

"If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, then you know that I am a sucker for a good collection of jangle pop. This is an excellent collection of jangle pop. The track that I keep coming back to, and I'm not sure why, is a mostly instrumental piece ("Nice") with the following lyrics:

Birth, school, work, death. Some paradise sure would be nice.

I suppose it summarizes the eternal longing to break the cycle of this world with something infinite in a three-minute jangle pop groove. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Anyway, I really like this collection, and if you dig The Byrds or The Kennedys,
you might want to check out this CD.

"Chris Elliott has a sharp wit and a smart manner in his songwriting. But Chris is no one-trick pony. His songs run the gamut from bitingly ironic to honestly beautiful. He matches catchy, hooky songs with lyrics that are biting, ironic, thoughtful and stunning.
Off the beaten path, but right on target."

"This charming release courtesy of musician Chris Elliott is as strong as any major label disc in this genre. Sparkling folk-driven pop number fueled by Elliott's ingenious, sometimes lofty lyrics and majestic string work fill this pioneering 13-song effort
full of wonderful themes and superb musicianship.

"A bit like an American Luka Bloom... Many of the songs actually have a narrative structure, so I could almost say that Elliott's more of a storyteller than anything else. Then he pulls out songs like "Raven on the Wire" (which is like some weird experiment between CSNY and Cat Stevens) and "Promises Promises", which is so close to Arlo Guthrie I can smell
what's cooking at Alice's Restaurant."
